Hi One Hope United Staff,
In this tech tip, we’re going to show you how to do two things:
- Clear your web browser cache
- Turn off the Clutter feature in your email
Clearing your web browser cache is useful in that it can help resolve miscellaneous web browsing problems such as failed website logins, formatting problems, or even function failure such as not being able to upload documents.
Web browsers use a cache tool to load webpages faster by saving info on your computer hard drive so that you do not have to download it every time you click on a new link within the same website. The problem with this is that websites generate errors with content in your browser cache due to the content being outdated or no longer compatible with the website. When that happens, you will see images not sized correctly, functionality such as uploading documents might not work, or the website will not work altogether.
The easiest way to clear your cache is to follow the online instructions provided by each browser:
Remember: if your browser is outdated, or you’d like another browser installed (we recommend everybody uses Firefox whenever possible), please submit a Zendesk ticket.
Clutter is a new email sorting feature that places emails in the Clutter inbox that Microsoft anticipates you do not want in your regular inbox. This causes problems if someone does not know that new emails might have been routed to their Clutter folder. Because there have been some cases where our staff did not receive important emails in their inbox, we are encouraging our staff to disable the Clutter feature. Here’s how:
- Log in to the OHU web mail portal
- If you do not know how to login to your web mail portal, follow the guide for that here.
- On the top right side of the screen, click on the settings icon that looks like a gear
- Select ‘Options’
- On the left pane, ‘Mail’ -> ‘Automatic Processing’ -> ‘Clutter’
- Uncheck the box titled ‘Separate items identified as clutter’
- Click ‘Save’
- Your emails will no longer end up in the Clutter folder!
